The Promised Land

16D 14N Pilgrimage to the Promised Land

In Egypt we visit the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, and also the Burning Bush, the location at which Moses was appointed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan. After that we explore St Catherine’s Monastery and The Burning Bush, and climb the scenic Mt Sinai. Other places in Egypt that we will see include the city of Alexandria, St, Mark’s Cathedral and St. Joseph’s Church, Bitter Water of Marah and The Hills of Amelakites.

We begin in Israel by visiting The Dead Sea, and having mass in the Good Shepherd Church at Jericho. We also get to visit Bethlehem, the birthplace of our Lord, to explore Ein Karem and Mount of Olives, mentioned in connection with David’s flight from Absalom (II Samuel 15:30). Next we visit the following places like Galilee, Nazareth — where we can find Mount of Beatitudes — and Jerusalem where we get to experience the 14 Stations of the Cross leading to the Church of Holy Sepluchre.

The Petra, a historic and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma’an, is the symbol of Jordan. During our stay we get to visit Petra and also stop by at other places like River Jordan — the actual baptismal site of our Lord — Mount Nebo, which provides a panorama of the Holy Land at the summit, Mujib Valley, a gorge in Jordan which enters the Dead Sea at 410 meters below sea level and Mukawir, the place where John the Baptist was beheaded.
